January is the time of year when we make our New Year's resolutions. Often we start well only to give up again in February, or later in the year. Why is that?

Reward yourself

Identify your personal obstacles

An example might be: you tried to quit smoking but gave up because you were hanging out with friends who smoked. If this sounds familiar, make a plan to avoid personal "hurdles" that stand in the way of your success.

Running or exercising together is more fun and you can support each other when you get demotivated.
